About Scottville Beekeepers.
Hello, my name is Lenny, founder of the Scottville Beekeepers of Mason County. As a newcomer to Mason County in 2015, I was grateful to meet Ed Malkowski, the area’s well known gentleman beekeeper and mentor extraordinaire. Ed has been keeping bees for more than 50 years and like myself, was very aware of the burgeoning interest in bees.
While setting up my hives in our new homestead, I found that the nearest organization meeting on a regular basis was the Holland Beekeepers Assoc. They provide a wonderful service to their local beekeepers but the distance was a drawback from our outpost in rural Mason County. Knowing I had so much yet to learn, particularly about my new environment, I reached out to Ed more and more. As a lifetime beekeeper, he understood the value of sharing experience. Together we developed The Scottville Beekeepers of Mason County.
It’s good to know the rules before you break the rules. Meetings will bring together the wisdom of seasoned beekeepers as well as newbees just getting started and even those still in the phase of considering. Overall, the intention is to provide help in diverse ways to support the life and future of the honeybees.
Scottville Beekeepers of Mason County appreciate the Scottville Senior Center for providing the monthly meeting space. Meetings are free and open to ALL AGES!
